I was in your place a little over a year ago, and %26quot;I%26quot; went with yahoo merchant services.... And for the payment portal, I started off using paypal integrated into my site until my sales reflected a profit enough to upgrade. It only took 5 bux to sign up with paypal and start with %26quot;Merchant Intro%26quot; should have all you need to start up. Upgrade at any time. Yahoo even gives you discounts on ads and other marketing strategies.. Good Luck!!
Reply:HostGator is great.

Reply:As with the hosting/URL etc... Look around and read some forums and get some feedback - then choose one.

As for the Merchant processing - almost always, the Gateway and the Merchant Services go hand in hand. I highly suggest contacting MANY merchant service providers and getting WRITTEN quotes. Starting out, the monthly minimums, annual fees, and statment fees (and often they are seperate from the Merchant services provider vs. the gateway) can be a burden. You might consider PayPal until you can gain volume above $1,500 per month - but consider all options, and aviod any type of investment in hardware software over a few bucks.
